42.0 Wednesday 23rd October – Monday 28th October

Wednesday 23rd October

Good morning all, I hope you slept well.

I slept well this morning but I’m feeling tired and all of my energy has drained away. I’ve managed to stretch and eat breakfast but haven’t got any energy for a session on my bike.

I’m more tired and exhausted than fatigued.

Before I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma I was active and very sporty, yes I was tired but I still got on with life.  Since diagnosis, my life has been turned upside down.  Fatigue hits me regularly, tiredness is always there.  There’s a huge difference between fatigue and tiredness, from being active and sporty, I’m now happy if I can be active, the drugs and illness drain my energy and really bring on the fatigue.  Previously walking upstairs was a simple task, when I have fatigue, I just about manage to climb the stairs and at the top, I have to rest.  When fatigue hits, my concentration goes as well so that period is so difficult.  Yes I may sound like I’m fine but mentally and physically I’m really suffering.

Wednesday tablets:

One tablet as soon as I wake up.

6 tablets after breakfast

2 tablets at around 5.30pm

2 tablets at around 6.30pm

Final 2 tablets 2 hours after my last meal.

Today has been a bad day physically, mentally and emotionally. it’s been a real struggle to be positive. I think the reason has to be the after effects of the 5 minute chemo injection I had yesterday.

Time for bed and a restful sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Thursday 24th October

Good morning all, I hope you slept well.

I had a good nights sleep, still feeling exhausted.

Stretches and breakfast completed.

This morning we attended a zoom meeting held by MacMillan about diet and cancer. It was informative but I currently do everything they mentioned.

Just got back from a 3.5 mile walk. The whole walk was a struggle but I’m glad I did it. The last couple of days have been bad, I haven’t experienced these chemo after effects before. It’s not nice.

Thursday tablets:

1 tablet as soon as I wake up.

5 tablets after breakfast.

2 tablets at around 5.30pm

2 tablets at around 6.30pm

Final 2 tablets 2 hours after my last meal.

Dr N is doing a sponsored 100 mile walk in November on behalf of Myeloma UK, please donate if you are able to.

Myeloma UK is a truly amazing charity, they offer wonderful support and most importantly, they fund vital research and lobby government to add all the novel treatments and technology to the NHS pathways so they are available to all. We are blessed to have organisations like this fighting our corner.

It’s been another bad day but I’ve pushed myself today, it’s been hard but feeling a little better towards the end of the day. I now understand how the steroids help with the chemo after effects.

Time for bed and much needed sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Friday 25th October

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re well.

I slept well. This morning I’m feeling exhausted and spaced out.

Stretches and breakfast completed.

I met T & B for coffee and treats. It was good to get out and have a catch up but I feel like my head is floating. It’s a weird feeling.

Friday tablets:

One tablet as soon as I wake up.

6 tablets after breakfast

2 tablets at around 5.30pm

2 tablets at around 6.30pm

Final 2 tablets 2 hours after my last meal.

It’s been another bad day, totally unexpected. It’s so hard to do anything, so frustrating because this isn’t me but this is my life now. I’m slowly adjusting but it’s mentally and emotionally so difficult. I have so many thoughts everyday but I have to keep reminding myself that I have to take each day as it comes and it’s the here and now that matters.

On bad days, my positivity really falters but I give myself a good taking to.

I received my stem cell transplant info pack today which we’ll read over the weekend.

Time for bed and restful sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

We enjoyed a nice 3 mile walk today, my energy levels are better today, less exhausted but still suffering from chemo brain.

It was good to get out, but the ground was very wet and muddy.

The lovely outdoors.

It’s been a restful evening spent watching a couple of movies along with a lovely healthy tofu salad prepared by Dr N.

Time for bed. We all get an extra hour in bed.

Good night all, sleep well.

So that’s my week of tablets, there used to be several more when my chemo treatment first started which are now not needed.

It’s a lovely sunny day, we may go for a walk later, all depends on how I feel.

It’s been a day of rest, tiredness really kicked in and chemo brain never lifted. My legs have felt very heavy all day.

We had a lovely lunch of homemade fishcakes and salad.

So healthy!!!

Time for bed. I’m going to try and push myself tomorrow, either a session on my bike or a walk, let’s see what my body says.

I had a good sleep, I’m feeling less tired but my legs are still feeling so heavy.

It’s been raining and now stopped so I think a walk is on the cards. I hope the walk relaxes my legs.

I managed a 3 mile walk, legs are feeling better, still tired. Chemo brain has eased off a bit.

The evening has been restful, o don’t feel any worse than I did after my walk which is really good.

It’s been a hard few days, today has been a better day especially physically, mentally and emotionally. We’ve received information about the stem cell transplant so that’s also been on my mind.

Time for bed, we have an early start tomorrow.

Good night all, sleep well.
