76.0 Monday 5th May – Sunday 11th May

Monday 5th May

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re well.

I slept well, could have done with a few more hours. Less fatigued, less chemo brain. I woke up very early, breakfast, shower and we were straight out of the door. The journey to the hospital was traffic free, not surprising at such an early hour and also today being a bank holiday.

We’ve arrived, parked outside the hospital and now waiting for the nurses to arrive so we can check in. No signs of life yet.

Will I be on the 2nd floor or 4th floor, no one seems to know, we went to the 2nd floor to be told to go to the 4th floor. Yep, I’m being seen on the 4th floor. Check in is at 8am, they’re running late.

Checked in, bloods given, bp and temperature also taken, yep, I’m alive!! Now another wait to be called for my injection, should only be one today.

Just under two hour delay today, I eventually got seen and I was out within 10 minutes. So that’s 4 treatments down, 4 to go.

We’re now home, it’s another cold day, even some rain. I’m feeling a little tired from the early rise, the steroids are kicking in so not feeling the fatigue like I have done over the last few days.

It’s been a relaxing evening, my body is having an internal battle, sleep is fighting the steroids which don’t want to sleep, let’s see who wins!!

I’m feeling tired, muscles are only slightly aching, this is usually all effects of the steroids so I’m going to ride the wave while I can.

Time for maybe sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Tuesday 6th May

Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good weekend.

I eventually got to sleep after midnight, slept well, woke up less tired with the usual chemo brain.

Breakfast was followed by full stretches, steroids still giving me energy. Shower then some work on my laptop.

I’m feeling less tired, less muscle ache and a tad more energy. I’m not sure if that’s the drugs or my body adjusting. I’ll know in a couple of days.

Today has been a good day, I even managed a 2 mile walk albeit at a slow pace and with a break.

The evening has been restful, I’m feeling good, less tired, muscles feel less achy but chemo brain is present.

Time for bed, a good sleep, ready for a fresh new day.

Good night all, sleep well.

Wednesday 7th May

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your week is going well.

I slept well, woke up feeling a little tired, breakfast and even though I was feeling tired, I got on my bike and managed 30 minutes, I didn’t want to push it because this time last week I was fatigued.

Full stretches and shower after the ride. I’m feeling tired and chemo brain is ever present, I think an afternoon nap is on the cards.

The afternoon has been restful, I’m feeling good, less tired but usual with chemo brain.

This evening I’m feeling better, the morning exercise has hit and I’m feeling tired but a good tired, chemo brain has been the same all day. I’m glad I pushed myself today, I needed to do it. I may even be ready for another ride in the morning.

Tomorrow I have my mid treatment appointment with the consultant so it’s an early night to make sure I’m ready.

Good night all, sleep well.

Thursday 8th May

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re well.

I slept well, could have done with a couple more hours of sleep. Woke up feeling tired, fatigue hasn’t appeared. Chemo brain is present.

Breakfast then full stretches, not enough energy for a bike ride.

This afternoon I have my mid treatment (4 week) appointment to see my consultant to see how I’m doing.

Drive in wasn’t too bad, we’ve arrived early and now a wait before bloods.

There was only 1 person waiting to give blood so I managed to check in early and my name is on the waiting list, shouldn’t be too long. My wait was 2 minutes, blood given, usual 2 tubes, now a long wait until I see the consultant.

Checked in and waiting to have my weight and bp taken. The consultant is running late which isn’t unusual at all. Only weight today, no need for my bp, every time I’m on chemo, my weight goes up, yes it’s only temporary, it will come down as soon as I finish chemo.

The consultant was on time, maybe even 5 minutes early, we talked through my progress, he’s very happy with all of my results, discussed what will happen over the next 4 weeks and he introduced us to the trial for remission after the chemo.

Some of my current medication has also been halved which is fantastic news, so everything is positive. The appointment took about 30 minutes.

We’re now home, drive back was full of traffic, it was rush hour so what did I expect.

A quick dinner and now rest.

This evening I’m feeling exhausted, it’s been a long day, a very good day, chemo brain is present, now with less drugs, I should start to feel better.

Time for bed, I really need some sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Friday 9th May

Good morning everyone, I hope you’ve had a good week.

I slept well, woke up feeling tired which I was expecting. Chemo brain is present. No stretches, just not in the mood, breakfast, shower then a few chores.

I’m feeling tired but good, I can feel my energy levels slowly lifting, with the chemo tablets now reduced to one tablet every evening, I should have more energy, it will take a few days for my body to react to the change.

I’ve been feeling low today, no idea why, still tired with little energy, chemo brain is still the same. It’s been a day of doing little, just haven’t been able to put my mind into anything, just one of those days. Tomorrow is a new day.

Time for bed and restful sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Saturday 10th May

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re well.

I slept well, woke up feeling less tired, mood slightly better, still can’t put my finger on why I’m low. No stretches, it’s a day off, breakfast, shower, a couple of chores and then a walk in the fresh air to clear my head.

It’s a lovely day, sun is out, a cooling breeze, let’s see how I am today.

Nice to get out, perfect weather for a nice walk, we took it slow as I didn’t have much energy, even though it was hot, my nose was running, have I got hay fever?? Never had it before!!

I’m feeling better, tired from the walk, glad we went out, helped clear my head. My legs are a little achy which I’m sure will be fine after a good nights sleep.

Good night all, sleep well.

Sunday 11th May

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re having a lovely sunny weekend.

I slept well, woke up tired, less chemo brain but still lacking energy.

Breakfast was followed by full stretches which was tough but glad I did them even though I’m feeling tired.

Another lovely sunny day, we spent the afternoon at Dr N’s parents house, sat in their garden enjoying the weather with a lovely lunch and company.

It’s been a weird day, fatigue has been hitting me like a roller coaster, not sure if the sun has anything to do with it, not nice at all, the fatigue just hits you out of nowhere and I’m instantly exhausted.

Now home, still feeling the same, I thought it would lift but nope, chemo brain is ever present.

This coming week is going to be different because I have half the number of steroids to take and also only 1 evening chemo tablet, let’s see how that affects me, I’m sure it will take a few days for my body to adjust.

Early night as I have to get up very early to attend my treatment.

Good night all, sleep well.
