Day +48

Good morning all, I hope you’re well.

It’s the start of week 8 post SCT.

I slept well but woke up feeling tired, not sure why.

My back is still a little painful, I managed to perform my stretches but too tired for a walk. At the moment it looks like I need 2 days to recover from my walks, I still feel weak and my muscles will start to get stronger in time.

Just work and resting today.

It’s been a good day of rest and getting my back sorted out.

I’m feeling good, still tired but more positive.

Time for bed.

Day +49

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re having a good day.

I slept well but lots of tossing and turning because of my back, the pain did ease.

After breakfast I managed 15 minutes on my bike, stretches after and after my shower I went for a 2.7 mile walk so it’s been quite an active morning.

Lunch was a lovely pearl barley risotto accompanied with a piece of salmon.

Now for some rest.

It’s been a good evening but for a stomach pain, I can only put that down to eating cheese and butter, I don’t seem to be able to digest both items too well at present. I know it will pass. No dinner tonight, just no appetite.

I’m feeling good, just need to sort out my back and stomach. I’m not letting that stop me from my exercising and we’ll adjust the food I eat accordingly. I don’t seem to feel a little tired but I’m so happy with what I’ve achieved today.

Time for bed, ready for tomorrow’s challenge.

Tomorrow is a brand new day that’s never been touched.

Day +50

Good evening everyone, I hope you’re well.

I didn’t sleep too well, my stomach ache just wouldn’t go away until 3am. I think I slept well after that. My back felt better but still a slight ache.

Before breakfast I managed full stretches, and after a shower we went for a walk, we covered a distance of 3 miles.

I attended the monthly MacMillan myeloma support group Zoom meeting. There were a few new faces amongst the regulars. A few of the group are a real inspiration, still going strong after 20 years post diagnosis.

After a lovely tofu and mixed bean salad, I fell asleep while watching tv, I must have been so tired. The sleep even helped my back.

It’s been a relaxing evening, I’m feeling good, no pain in my legs after the bike ride.

It’s going to be a good sleep tonight!!

Day +51

Good evening all, I hope your week is going well.

I slept well, I really needed it.

Full stretches before breakfast, back is still a little achy but getting better.

I met T, J and B this morning for coffee and treats, just shame about the horrible weather, we were all wrapped up, it’s just the rain that gets you. It was good to get out and meet people, still not meeting indoors.

After a lovely lunch of mixed fish curry with brown rice, expertly prepared by Dr N, it was delicious, the rest of the afternoon was spent working and relaxing. My thighs are a little achy thanks to the bike ride, I just need to ride more.

Yet again I’m experiencing a sight stomach ache this evening, I just can’t pinpoint what I’m doing wrong because I was fine yesterday evening. It really feels like I’m taking one step forward and two steps back and really puts a downer on my mood. I’m putting it all down to another challenge I need to overcome on my journey.

I’m on the borderline of feeling good and not good this evening, it’s a fine line where food is winning but not by much.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Day +52

Good afternoon everyone, I hope your day is going well.

I had a so so nights sleep, woke up at 6am, just didn’t get enough sleep. My legs were still achy.

Back is still painful so decided against stretches just to rest it, so after breakfast and shower I did some work before we went for a drive to a park and walked 2 miles while there. We just missed the rain, no idea what the weather wants to do.

Back home now, I’m feeling tired. A little more work and then rest. I just can’t get the rest and exercise routine correct, every time I exercise I have to rest for a day, maybe more whereas I’m use to exercising and more the next day.

It’s been a restful evening, my back feels a little better. I’m feeling much better than yesterday, both mentally and physically.

Tired now and time for some much needed sleep.

Day +53

Good evening everyone, I hope your weekend is going well.

I slept well, woke up a little tired but pushed through and did my full stretches.

After breakfast and a shower we set off for a walk to a local park where we met Dr N’s parents and enjoyed a coffee and natter with them. By the time we got back home, we had walked just over 6 miles.

Now at home, my legs do feel stiff and I’m feeling tired. Mentally I’m good, I gave myself a good talking to this morning, I was letting things get on top of me for no reason at all and I just needed to kick myself up the butt and take on everything that comes my way, and as I’ve said before, with Dr N by my side, we will conquer anything and everything. Rather than one step forward, two steps back, it’s more like two steps forward and one step back!!

We’re relaxing this evening, just watching tv.

I’ve figured out the reason I’m getting stomach aches is because I’m not eating enough before exercising or going for a walk so, as an experiment, next time I’ll eat a bit more and take a snack with us.

It’s been a good day, tiring and achy but overall a positive one.

Tiredness is creeping in so time for bed.

Day +54

Good evening everyone, I hope you’re well.

I slept well considering my back was constantly aching.

Full stretches followed by breakfast and a shower.

After a quick healthy snack, we went to our local park, we drove rather than walk mainly because of the weather. I wasn’t feeling too bad following yesterday’s walk. My muscles feel good so I think we could have walked there again today but I didn’t push myself!!

Today we met Dr N’s long time friend and her family, including their lovely dog, we haven’t met them for such a long time and it was so good to have a catch up. These days we have to ask everyone whether they have a cold or virus or infection before anything can be arranged.

When we eventually decided to go home, the rain decided to come down, lucky we didn’t walk.

A nice healthy dinner was followed by rest and relaxation, well it is a Sunday evening.

This weekend has been very good with so many positive signs, I’m getting stronger, more active and meeting people. There’s still a long way to go.

I’m feeling tired which isn’t surprising so it’s time for bed.

It’s the end of week 8.
