Good morning, I hope you’re all well.
I didn’t have a good sleep but woke up early. Feeling tired today.
No time for bike ride or stretches. Always time for breakfast.
We’ve started our journey to the hospital, sat nav says 55 minutes to get there, we left after 9 to avoid the school and work rush.
We’ve reached, parked up and now we’ll go for a walk before my appointment this afternoon.
A nice 4.2 mile walk, now back at the hospital and I’ve checked in. Not even 5 minutes and I’ve been called to the 4th floor reception where I’ve checked in, my weight has been taken and now I have to wait until the consultant calls my name.
My was called but they wanted to check whether I had given a blood test. I said no so they took me to a room and extracted blood, only a couple of tubes. I wonder why??? I’m sure the consultant will tell all.
The waiting room is the perfect spot to people watch, all shapes and sizes and from all over the world.
I was finally called, the doctor who apologetic about the delay but we didn’t mind. He went through all of my test results…heart and kidney are fine, bone marrow didn’t show any signs of myeloma so all is good and he is happy with my progress and it’s all systems go for the transplant.
The doctor explained the procedure and all potential side effects, he then completed the consent form which he explained and I sighed. Next stop was with the pharmacist who went through all of the drugs I’m about to have when admitted and again all side effects and worst case scenarios.
Side effects from the high dose chemo include nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, severe mouth ulceration, weight loss, fatigue, no immune system so open to infection.
2 weeks after the transplant, I will experience hair loss.
The next chapter is about to begin.
It’s 4pm and we’re headed home.
Reached home, journey time was 1hr 20 minutes, not bad really.
Now it’s time to rest, I’m feeling tired, the day is catching up with me. A bite to eat and watch some tv.
We had a fabulous surprise when we got home. A large parcel was waiting for us, Dr N opened the box and we looked at each other, totally opened mouthed, a close friend has sent us a F&M picnic hamper full of so many goodies.❤️
I’m feeling mentally tired this evening, physically I’m not too bad.
Time for bed and digest the day.
Good night all, sleep well.
❤️🙏🏽
