52.0 Kidney blood test & heart test

Good morning all, I hope you’re well.

I hardly slept, tossing and turning all night. Finally got out of bed at 5am.

Breakfast eaten, straight into the shower, no time for any stretches.

We left our house at 7.35am, a few minutes too late, it took us about 1hr 15 minutes to drive in. Luckily we got a parking space within the hospital.

I’ve checked in at Nuclear Medicine, now we wait to be called. Dr N had to sign a consent form to be with me as I will be radioactive, not sure if I’ll be glowing for most of today 😜.

I’ve been summoned and after the usual checks…name, dob, address, they have inserted a cannula and injected me with some radioactive liquid. I now have 2 hours before I have to return (11.55am), they will perform a test and then I will have to return again after an hour, they will perform another test and then I will have to return after an hour for the final kidney test.

Ready to be radioactive.
Wrapped up and ready to go for a 2 hour roam.

We’ve got our parking permit for next Monday and now a sit down and an early lunch.

2 hours have passed and I have been called, they have taken a tube of blood from my other arm. I now wait for a hour for the next test.

Give with left, take with the right.

2nd test done, they took a little bit of blood which was discarded and then a fresh bottle of blood was taken. Another hour to wait.

3rd and final kidney test completed.

I’ve had a call from my SCT nurse and they need more blood for another test they had omitted so I have to go to the cancer hospital to give blood.

We’ve been to the cancer hospital but the blood test appointment clashes with my heart test so I’ll go for the blood test after my heart test. All go here.

I’m back in the waiting room to be called for the heart test. Apparently, they inject one arm with radioactive liquid, wait 20 minutes and then inject the other arm and finally I’ll be called to have a heart scan.

I’ve been called, one injection into my left arm. I was called again after a 20 minutes and a second injection into my right arm.

Not even 5 minutes later, I’ve been called for the heart scan. I had to lie down on a bed, 3 pads were put on my chest, arms above my head and then they positioned the scanner in place. The scan took exactly 7 minutes.

For the final thing, we’ve walked to the cancer hospital and I’m now waiting to be called for my blood test.

I’ve been called but there’s confusion as to which test I need to a quick call to my nurse and all sorted.

Time to go home…sat nav says a journey time of 1hr 20 minutes. Off we set.

Just got home, time for dinner and a rest.

We arrived home to such a beautiful surprise. After a very long day, this is what put a huge smile on our faces…

Thank you!!!

After dinner we started watching tv when all of a sudden we both dozed off. Tiredness sure did kick in. I have to say, a sleep sure does refresh you. It’s been a long day with lots happening. The process has begun.

Time for bed, I’m feeling more relaxed, my mind seems more at ease.

Good night all, sleep well.

❤️🙏🏽
