Good morning everyone, hope you’re all well.
It’s Tuesday and it’s chemo day, treatment number 2.
I slept well, woke up at 6.18am but managed to fall asleep again for a few minutes to wake up at 6.30am. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve managed to sleep through without waking up at a silly hour.
The time was 6.45am by the time I got downstairs. First thing to drink was a dose of Symprove, while I was digesting that, I prepared my porridge for tomorrow and put away last nights dishes. 10 minutes later and I took my first tablet of the day. Next was my daily stretching routine followed by my shoulder stretching exercises and then breakfast. Usual porridge with manuka honey, berries, seeds and nuts. Straight after breakfast, I have 3 tablets to take and then I can relax for a few minutes before I hit the shower. I have to take 14 tablets once I’m at the hospital before the chemo starts. After dinner I have another 4 tablets to take and that’s it for the day.
Recently, we’ve come across a local lady who brings fresh seafood directly from Grimsby and then has a few locations around the local area where she sells her products. This is always on a Tuesday which meant we couldn’t buy anything. Nisha sent her a message and after a short conversation, we are honoured to say that the lady will be delivering our order to us before we have to leave for the hospital. The quality of the seafood is excellent and so tasty.
Both showered, backpack has been loaded with our stuff. Just waiting for the seafood delivery and then we leave for the hospital.

The sea bass filets are huge and the salmon is so meaty. Scallops are a new addition for us.
I’m feeling ok today, upbeat, ready for what’s going to happen today. I’m in a contemplative and quiet mood today.
We’ve reached and very early, no traffic on the roads. Blood test is at 2.40pm and chemo starts at 3pm but they’ve said that afternoon appointments are usually an hour delayed. Let’s see how it goes. We’ll have lunch at about 2pm so I can take all of my pre treatment tablets.
Lunch has been eaten, Nisha baked a lovely flourless oat and seed bread, so we had cheese and pickle sandwich each, I had all my tablets for dessert. Now the waiting continues.
Bloods are done, now we’re waiting in the chemo lounge, the nurse is waiting for my blood results before he can give me the injections, he’s going to take them out of the fridge so they’re not as cold!!
Another cannula today…

Blood results are back and we’re good to go…

This is the first injection which is the chemo and it takes 5 minutes to empty the fluid into my stomach. They will then monitor me for an hour and if all ok, they will give me the next injection which is quick.
All was ok after the first injection so the second was given, this is like a normal one and so it’s quick. Green light to go home!!!
Now we battle the rush hour traffic!!! The parking fee was equivalent to one persons train fare which makes it a bargain!!!
I’m feeling ok, a little light headed but that’s the piriton doing its thing.
We’re home, I’m feeling good, next on the agenda is dinner, more tablets and then relax and watch some tv.
The day has finally caught up with both of us and it’s time for some shut eye. We bid you good night and sleep well.
❤️🙏🏽
